Glenn Metsch-Ampel is the Executive Director of Lawyers For Children and has served in leadership and staff attorney roles at the organization since 1992. A recognized leader in juvenile justice and child welfare, he has received major professional honors, served on key statewide and appellate advisory bodies, and co-authored influential reports on family court reform and access to justice in New York.

Leadership in Family Court Reform and Child Advocacy

Glenn Metsch-Ampel is the Executive Director of Lawyers For Children. He has served in various leadership and staff attorney roles at LFC since 1992.He has served in various leadership and staff attorney roles at LFC since 1992.

Mr. Metsch-Ampel is the 2013 recipient of the Howard A. Levine Award for Excellence in Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare (New York State Bar Association) and the 2012 Kathryn A. McDonald Award for Excellence in Service to the Family Court (Association of the Bar of the City of New York). He is an appointee of the state-wide Permanent Commission on Justice for Families as well as the Family Court Advisory Committee, Appellate Division, First Department.  He is also the the former Chair of the NYC Bar Association Family Court & Family Law Committee, a former member of its Council on Children, and a current member of the Children & the Law Committee, a former member of its Council on Children, and a current member of the Children & the Law Committee. In 2026, Mr. Metsch-Ampel was nominated to the Bar Association's Board of Directors. Mr. Metsch-Ampel was recently nominated to the Bar Association's Board of Directors in May, 2026.  Among other publications, Mr. Metsch-Ampel is co-author of two recent reports issued by The Association of the Bar of the City of New York--he Family Court Judicial Appointment and Assignment Process (2020) and The Impact of COVID-19 on the New York City Family Court: Recommendations on Improving Access to Justice for All Litigants (2022).

Prior to joining Lawyers For Children Mr. Metsch-Ampel was Executive Director of Housing Conservation Coordinators (a not-for-profit housing advocacy organization) and the former Managing Director of Amnesty International USA’s Concerts For Human Rights Foundation.  He is also a former Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing and Analysis at New York Law School.

Mr. Metsch-Ampel is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey, and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
