Glenn Metsch-Ampel is the Executive Director of Lawyers For Children. He has served in various leadership and staff attorney roles at LFC since 1992.
Mr. Metsch-Ampel is an appointee of the state-wide Permanent Commission on Justice for Families, and served for over two decades as an appointee of the Family Court Advisory Committee, Appellate Division, First Department. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York City Bar Association, and has Chaired or been a member of various NYC Bar Association Committees, including the Family Court & Family Law Committee, Council on Children, and Children & the Law Committee. Among other publications, Mr. Metsch-Ampel is co-author of two reports issued by the NYC Bar Association -- The Family Court Judicial Appointment and Assignment Process (2020) and The Impact of COVID-19 on the New York City Family Court: Recommendations on Improving Access to Justice for All Litigants (2022). Mr. Metsch-Ampel is a recipient of the Howard A. Levine Award for Excellence in Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare (New York State Bar Association) and the Kathryn A. McDonald Award for Excellence in Service to the Family Court (New York City Bar Association).
Prior to joining Lawyers For Children Mr. Metsch-Ampel was Executive Director of Housing Conservation Coordinators (a not-for-profit housing advocacy organization) and the former Managing Director of Amnesty International USA’s Concerts For Human Rights Foundation. He is also a former Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing and Analysis at New York Law School.
Mr. Metsch-Ampel is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey, and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
