The ADOLESCENTS CONFRONTING TRANSITION (ACT) PROJECT provides legal and social work services to address the special needs of teens in and aging-out of foster care. The ACT Project allows LFC to direct attention and resources to help you finish your education, find the job training that is right for you, find the right therapy and medical services, and help you develop meaningful connections to caring adults who can support you through this time of transition and beyond. Our goal is to insure that you have the community-based support that you need to succeed as independent adults. In addition, LFC works with other organizations in New York City such as Advocates for Children, The Door, and the Legal Aid Society to provide important services on behalf of teenagers like you.
If you have questions about the ACT Project, you can call LFC for free from any phone at (800) 244-2540, or email info@lawyersforchildren.org. If you would like to learn more about your rights and responsibilities while in foster care, and what to do if you are preparing to age out, look inside our handbook “Your Rights In Foster Care” for the chapters on aging out of care.
